GKCF
1998
The Guam Kayak and Canoe Federation (GKCF) was officially organized in March 1998 with Guam’s Department of Revenue and Taxation. Since then, GKCF has been the official governing body responsible for developing and regulating paddle sports on Guam. We oversee programs, competitions, and athlete development, ensuring everything we do aligns with the rules and standards of: The International Canoe Federation (ICF) and International Va’a Federation (IVF), The Guam National Olympic Committee (GNOC), and global best practices, including those set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Our organizational structure follows a clear chain of alignment, starting from the top: International Olympic Committee (IOC) ⟶ International Federation (ICF and IVF) ⟶ National Olympic Committee (GNOC) ⟶ National Governing Body (GKCF) ⟶ Local Clubs and Community Programs.
This structure ensures that the paddling activities we promote, from youth training to elite competition, are not only locally meaningful but also internationally recognized and respected. See our structure below…
